28C256 - PLCC32 EEPROM IC

AT28C256 is a high performance electrically erasable and programmable read only memory . Its 256K memory is organized as 32,768 words with 8 bits. Produced with advanced permanent CMOS technology, the device offers access times of 150 ns with only 440 mW power consumption. When the device is deselected, the CMOS standby current is less than 200 µA.

 

The AT28C256 is accessed like Static RAM for a read or write cycle without the need for external components. The device has a 64-byte page register that allows writing up to 64 bytes simultaneously. During a write cycle, addresses and 1 to 64 bytes of data are locked internally, freeing the address and data path for other operations. Following the start of a write cycle, the device automatically writes internal data using a timer. The end of a write cycle can be detected by I/O7's DATA Call. When the end of a write cycle is detected, a new access for a read or write can begin.
