An electrolytic capacitor is a polarized capacitor whose anode, or positive plate, is made of a metal that forms an insulating oxide layer through anodization. This oxide layer acts as the dielectric of the capacitor. A solid, liquid, or gel electrolyte coats the surface of this oxide layer, which acts as the cathode, or negative plate, of the capacitor. Due to the very thin dielectric oxide layer and the expanded anode surface, electrolytic capacitors have a much higher capacitance-voltage (CV) product per unit volume than ceramic capacitors or film capacitors and can therefore have large capacitance values.

 

They are generally used as filtering devices in various power supplies to reduce voltage fluctuations. When used in power supply replacements, they are often critical components that limit the lifespan of the power supply, therefore high-quality capacitors are used in this application. Note: The capacitor does not have a mounting screw. The connection screw size is M5.
