A glass fuse works by interrupting the circuit when the rated current passes through it. When the current passing through the fuse exceeds the nominal current, the thin wire melts and breaks the circuit. It protects circuit elements against damage caused by overcurrent.
The difference with delay fuses is that they do not react immediately and do not interrupt the circuit immediately when the current value they can withstand is exceeded. This ensures that circuits are not interrupted, especially when using products that draw high current initially, such as motors.
It can safely interrupt short-circuit currents up to a maximum of 3 kiloamperes.
