Notify me when its in stockA variable capacitor, also known as adjustable capacitor, is a type of capacitor whose capacity value can be mechanically changed. It is usually formed by connecting more than one capacitor plate in parallel.
It consists of two main parts:
Stator: The fixed part.
Rotor: The rotating, moving part.
One part of the plates is connected to the stator, the other part is connected to the rotor. When the rotor is rotated by a shaft, the plates move into each other, increasing the surface area and thusthe capacity value. Conversely, as the plates are separated, the capacity decreases.
This change allows fine adjustments to be made in the circuits. Variable capacitors are particularly used in applications such as radio receivers, transmitters and frequency-tuned circuits .
