The L78M series three-terminal positive regulators are available in TO-220, TO-220FP, DPAK and IPAK packages and with a variety of fixed output voltages, making it useful in a wide variety of applications. These editors can provide local on-board editing, eliminating the distribution issues associated with single-point editing. Each type uses internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe area protection, making it essentially indestructible. If sufficient cooling is provided, they can provide output current over 0.5 A. Although designed primarily as fixed voltage regulators, these devices can be used with external components to achieve adjustable voltages and currents.
