TIC106D - TO220 3.2A 400V Thyristor
In its most basic form, a thyristor has three terminals: anode (positive terminal), cathode (negative terminal). and gate (control terminal). The gate controls the flow of current between the anode and cathode.
The primary function of a thyristor is to control electrical power and current by acting as a switch. For such a small and lightweight component, it provides adequate protection for circuits with large voltages and currents. It is attractive as a rectifier because it can quickly switch from a conducting current to a non-conducting state. Maintenance costs are low and operating under the right conditions, it remains functional in the long run without causing any malfunctions.
