The 74LS00 DIP-14 Inverter and Gate Integrated Circuit is a TTL-based (LS = Low-Power Schottky) 14-pin DIP integrated circuit containing four two-input NAND gates.
The NAND (NOT-AND) gate is one of the most fundamental building blocks of digital electronics: when two inputs are both 1, the output is 0; in all other combinations, the output is 1. This behavior allows you to easily implement complex logic structures (latches, flip-flops, combinational logic, inverter structures, etc.) with the 74LS00. It is still widely used, especially in TTL-based projects.
