MAX487ESA SOIC-8 SMD Transceiver Integrated
MAX487ESA is a slew rate limited Low Power Transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 communications. Each part contains a driver and a receiver. The MAX487 features reduced slew rate drivers that minimize EMI and reduce reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, thus allowing error-free data transmission at up to 250 kbps. These transceivers draw between 120 and 500µA of supply current when unloaded or fully loaded with disabled drivers. Additionally, the MAX487 has a low current shutdown mode where they consume only 0.1µA. All parts operate from a single 5V supply. The drives are short-circuit current limited and protected against excessive power loss by a thermal shutdown circuit that puts the drive outputs into a high impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that ensures a logic high output in case the input is open-circuited. MAX487 is designed for half-duplex applications.
