Logarithmic potentiometers are very popular, mainly among non-linear or non-proportional types of potentiometers whose resistance varies logarithmically. Logarithmic or “log” potentiometers are commonly used as volume and gain controls in audio applications where attenuation varies as a logarithmic ratio in decibels.
